While Michelle’s teaching role is important, she also developed a very deep, intimate relational bond with Faith. This is one role that the mother plays that doesn’t end when the child leaves the home, and that is the role of confidant. Over the years I have talked to many women who didn’t enjoy an enriching mother/daughter relationship.
Their experience was characterized by indifference or a critical and judgmental spirit. Conversely, Michelle wanted to have a relationship with Faith that would only grow and blossom into something special as the years went by. During this important developmental stage, Michelle and Faith spent a lot of quality and quantity time together.
